本館起始於二十世紀初期,位於台灣台中中興大學,隸屬於昆蟲學系。主要典藏學術研究用的針插標本約12萬件,其中模式標本約400種3,000件以上,包含張書忱教授與楊仲圖教授採集的鞘翅目天牛科與半翅目等模式標本。此外,日本八田耕吉教授所捐贈之世界各地昆蟲標本約17,000件,亦典藏於此,是一個兼具研究、教學與展示功能的昆蟲標本館。

NCHU Museum of Entomology established in the early 20th Century, belonging to the Department of Entomology, National Chung Hsing University, Taichung, Taiwan. There are about one hundred and twenty thousands of pinned insect specimens in the collections. There are more than 3,000 type specimens within about 400 species, including the type specimens collected by professor Shu-Chen Chang on the coleopteran Cerambycidae and by Chung-Tu Yang on Psyllidae and Fulgoroidea of Hemiptera. Besides, there are about seventeen thousand worldwide specimens which were donated by Japanese Professor Kokichi Hatta. The Museum serves multifunction roles in research, education, and exhibitions to both academia and community. http://nchuentm.biodiv.tw/
